Ousmane Dembele says he has realised his childhood dream after signing for Barcelona in a deal worth up to £135.5million.
31 August 2017- Ousmane Dembele says he has realised his childhood dream after signing for Barcelona in a deal worth up to £135.5million.
The France star has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Camp Nou after Barca came to an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for an initial £96.8m fee.
The deal is the second most expensive transfer of all time, behind only Neymar’s £200m move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer.
Speaking for the first time following his switch, Dembele said: ‘I’m very happy to be here.
It has always been my dream to be at Barcelona and now I’m here I’m very happy to have achieved my dream.
‘It is the best club in the world with the best players in the world. My aim is to do everything for the club, everything for the team, and to have an understanding with my team-mates.’
Dembele, 20, made his last appearance for German giants Dortmund on August 5 and was suspended earlier in the month for missing training.
Dortmund had rejected an offer from Barcelona a matter of weeks ago, saying the bid ‘did not correspond to the extraordinary footballing and additional value of the player’.
However, an offer of over £130m was too good to refuse and the fee eclipses Barcelona’s most expensive purchase which had been the £75m paid to Liverpool for Luis Suarez two years ago.{jcomments on}
