Polanya Spor bakanı 2012 Avrupa Futbol şampiyonası organizasyonunun Polanya ekonomisine yaklaşık 7 Milyar Euro'luk bir gelir katkısı sağlayacağını ifade etti.
Poland's sports minister has predicted that staging the European Championships in 2012 will generate 28bn zlotys (€7.0bn) for the country's economy.
Adam Giersz believes that Poland, which is co-hosting the tournament with Ukraine, will earn 900m zlotys from additional tourist traffic in 2012 and a further 5bn zlotys in the years following."We expect around one million tourists to come to Poland specifically for the Euro 2012, of which around half would have tickets for games," he told Reuters."In the following years, we also expect some half a million more tourists coming to Poland than usual and, as a result, extra revenue of some 5bn zlotys by 2020." However, most of the benefits for the economy will come from increased investments thanks to infrastructure being built faster than otherwise. Giersz estimated the overall boost to the economy would reach 2.1% of Poland's GDP in 2009. However, Poland‟s Supreme Auditing Chamber has found that only the stadiums will be completely ready for the Euro 2012 football championships, with highways and other transport infrastructure falling way behind schedule. In fact, only half of all the planned projects will be completed before the championships, to be co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, kick off in June 2012, says the report, seen by TVP public television. The report also shows that PL.2012, the company which supervises preparations for the championships, is failing to spend investment funds wisely. In 2007, the company‟s budget amounted to 2 million zloty (€500,000), while in 2009 it rose to 20 million zloty (€5m). Some of the company‟s departments consist of just one employee and a manager, finds the damning report. Major delays have been reported in infrastructure: construction of expressways, streets and city transport. The A S7 expressway, for example, in the southern Swietokrzyskie region, was to be finished in 2011 but will only be ready in 2015. The auditing report will be debated in the Lower House of the Parliament.{jcomments on}
